Video Shoot and Editing

The taping is done and the video is now in the editing process. Here is the first draft of the video. Group, please leave comments with suggestions for revision! I've fixed it since last time. The crazy / trippy colors are gone. The video settings on the FCP exporter were wrong.

Video Shoot, Day 1

This is where you would see an embedded clip from the video we took from today's shoot. However, obviously its not here. After taping about 1-2 minutes of footage to get started, we already encountered our first problem. The tape was bad. Our current footage just consiststed of half Kelsey, and half of the content that was previously on the tape.

Solution: Lets get a new tape for our next shoot.

Script and Main Idea

Main Idea:
We would like to show students having a hard time trying to stay at Champlain College. The video will illustrate students having financial problems with massive amounts of mail and bills. We will visually represent the bills by showing a student emptying their mailbox in the mailroom and receiving an endless amount of collection letters. The main idea will encourage graduating students to donate to the college by illustrating these problems of current students. Use of slow motion will help convey the mood.

Script

Characters:
Devon: Narrator, Sponsor
Kelsey: Struggling Student 1
Emily: Struggling Student 2

Kelsey sitting, doing homework. Devon walks in and puts hand on her shoulder.
Devon: Getting through college is not as easy as it seems.

VO: Students are buried by bills every year. Others are even turned away through lack of financial aid. This can take a toll on students’ lives.

Alarm going off

Opening an empty fridge / cabinet
Kelsey: There is never any food, there is never any food.

Emily: Swiping ID Card and it doen’t work, students shaking heads.

Emily: Looking in an empty wallet.

Kelsey and Emily: Sadly looking into the camera.

Kelsey: Mailroom scene. Opens mailbox and pulls out bills and drops them on the floor.

Devon: Now that your time has come to move one. Leave a part of you with Champlain Collage. (a part of your wallet). Visit the Champlain Website to see how you can contribute to the senior class gift. Check out the upcoming fund raising events in the Burlington area. Please help today.
